She's Come Undone

Yesterday morning I woke up to the news that classes have been cancelled due to inclement weather. I was so happy because it meant that I get to stay in and review and catch up on all my note-writing. Imagine my surprise and annoyance when I received a text from our class mayor saying that WE HAD CLASSES.

While there was a typhoon currently raging about.

In spite of the fact that the mayor had already cancelled classes this morning and the night before.

Even though it was raining buckets and there was practically zero visibility on the roads.

Fucking hell man.

So then I got ready for school.

And when I did arrive at school, I found several of my classmates, protesting of course. I found majority of my fellow law students, all with dour expressions.

And then when 5:30 rolled around and we were all milling about the classroom, one of our law professors comes in and announces that

Fucking hell of a day man. Like what were they thinking declaring classes in the first place?!?!

The only upside of yesterday was that I got to buy books because National Bookstore had a sale.

 E. M. Cioran, On the Heights of Despair

This was quite the exhausting Sunday because a) we had a make-up class at school that began at 9. I had to wake up at 4 in the morning to make sure that I can make it to school on time. When I did get to school, I had a hard time staying awake although I did get a relatively high grade on the quiz! Hurray!

So I am currently…

READING my notes in Taxation Law I because we have a quiz on Tuesday and I am panicking because there is so much ground to cover and there’s a ton to memorize.

WATCHING Begin Again because I adore Keira Knightley and I’ve heard good things about the movie.

WRITING or rather, transcribing my notes in Wills & Succession from this morning’s lecture into my notebook. I have this habit of writing on scrap paper first and then rewriting my notes into the actual subject notebook. I rarely ever write directly on the notebook itself because I find that I add a lot of footnotes from the lecture. Also, I can’t stand it if my notes are all over the place.

LISTENING to the very best of John Coltrane. I think I got into jazz as an offshoot of my love of bossa nova and it’s really helpful to have soothing sounds in the background because the thing I am reading right now is so confusing and frustrating.

THINKING about the Legend trilogy by Marie Lu. I’m planning on buying a set tomorrow of hardbound books since it’s on sale! The thought of this makes me very very giddy.

DRINKING White Tea by Twinings since the supermarket was still out of the English Breakfast kind. I sort of like the White Tea as a substitute, it has a very mild flavour. I like it.

SMELLING like Mum’s cooking. I was her sous chef awhile ago.

WISHING that I could be done with this hell of a semester already so I can have three weeks of blissful reading and swimming and travelling.

WEARING worn pyjamas (pajamas?), fluffy socks, and a really soft sweatshirt.

HOPING that the typhoon doesn’t stay for long so we can finally get on with classes.

LOVING my new oxfords from Hush Puppies! There was this massive sale on SM awhile ago and so when I accompanied my mum to buy shoes, she bought me a pair I was eyeing for like a year already. The shoes are a tad loose on my feet, what with them being a size bigger and all but that can easily be rectified with sole padding. I love them. Haha

WANTING a new Mason jar mug since someone broke it. I don’t know who but my mum had houseguests and I was at school and there. Mason jar mugs are really hard to come by so I’m having trouble replacing the one I lost.

NEEDING new pens and ink refills. As a law student, I go through pens rather quickly.

FEELING exhausted, as in totally exhausted to my bones. I had quite a long day what with waking up at 4, sitting through a lecture from 9 to 12, walking around lunch, and then taking a quiz from 1:30 to 3. Add to that, I had to run errands with my mum and had to do a bit of grocery shopping. And then cooking dinner. My my, what a productive Sunday.

Having finally recovered from the flu (aka bronchitis), I have realised that there is much to attend to and that I have been lagging, especially in school.

And so, having rearranged much of my side of the house, I am ready to sit down and finally rewrite all my notes.

We have a month left until school’s out and I have to make it through to the second semester without any failure whatsoever.

I made a promise to myself to graduate on time and I intend to see it through.
